    The FBM KLCI index lost 2.77 points or 0.17% on Monday. The Finance Index increased 0.07% to 15535.5 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.06% to 820.25 points and the Plantation Index down 0.16% to 6747.6 points. Read More

    Daily Market Commentary (Securities)

    The FBM KLCI index lost 2.77 points or 0.17% on Monday. The Finance Index increased 0.07% to 15535.5 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.06% to 820.25 points and the Plantation Index down 0.16% to 6747.6 points. The market traded within a range of 7.19 points between an intra-day high of 1602.03 and a low of 1594.84 during the session.

    Actively traded stocks include SUMATEC, SAPNRG, VSOLAR, NETX, HSI-H6P, NAIM, KNM, HSI-C7F, DSONIC-WA and ARMADA. Trading volume increased to 2211.94 mil shares worth RM1597.74 mil as compared to Friday’s 1787.74 mil shares worth RM1444.08 mil.

    Leading Movers were PETCHEM (+13 sen to RM7.28), TOPGLOV (+5 sen to RM4.52), HLBANK (+10 sen to RM17.22), RHBBANK (+3 sen to RM5.51) and MAXIS (+2 sen to RM5.47). Lagging Movers were AXIATA (-13 sen to RM4.89), DIALOG (-5 sen to RM3.48), KLK (-24 sen to RM23.78), DIGI (-5 sen to RM4.97) and SIME (-2 sen to RM2.14). Market breadth was positive with 429 gainers as compared to 349 losers.

    The KLCI start the week with a negative note, closed lower at 1,596.45 points despite last Friday gains in US market. The performance of our local bourse was bogged down by selling interest in heavy weight counters led by Axiata.

    Mid and Small Cap PLCs Eligible for Stamp Duty Exemption

    The stamp duty exemption will be applicable for trading of companies listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities with a market capitalization ranging between RM200 million and RM2 billion as at 31 December 2017 for eligibility in 2018. For eligibility in 2019 until 2021, the companies will be based on their market capitalization as at 31 December 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively. The list of companies will be static until the annual review.
